Conan O'Brien to receive Finnish 'Emmy'

United Press International – February 8, 2006

NEW YORK -- NBC "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien is headed to Finland, where he has been named the country's "most surprising and entertaining TV personality."

O'Brien has had a running joke for months about his resemblance to red-headed Finnish President Tarja Halonen and takes credit for her recent re-election, Zap2it.com reported Wednesday.

O'Brien has become "wildly popular in the Nordic nation," NBC said in a news release, and will be honored next week at Finland's annual Telvis Awards with the Varipilkku Award for "the most surprising and most entertaining TV personality in Finland."

Film shot during O'Brien's four days in the Scandinavian country will air when "Late Night" returns from its Olympic break at the month's end.
