Marital Status: Married to Miriam Tolin, a comedian/performer with various improv groups, such as Upright Citizen’s Brigade and The Goofaround Gang (with Kevin Dorff, Jon Glaser & Brian McCann) and a former Daily Show correspondent (2000-2001). Brian and Miriam have apparently appeared together in many improv shows as well, such as Second City and Jazz Freddy in Chicago. (In the photo to the right, from ”The Winston Revue” Gallery, Miriam is on the left, wearing the blue shirt.)

Children: They have a daughter.

Late Night writing:
Brian created Late Night character Stacy Richter, Andy Richter's Conan-obsessed little sister (portrayed by Amy Poehler). [1]

Brian created the segment “Pierre Bernard’s Recliner of Rage”. According to Pierre, “One morning [Brian Stack] called me and wanted to know if anything was annoying me lately. At first I thought he was kidding around. Eventually, I wrote him about the then current problem I was having converting my LPs to MP3 files for my IPod. And that was the birth of Pierre Bernard's Recliner of Rage.” [2]

Career:
Worked at an advertising agency

Worked at the Indiana University radio station

Began doing improv early in 1987 at The Ark Theater in Madison, Wisconsin while attending grad school

After finishing grad school at the University of Wisconsin, Brian moved to Chicago where he performed at IO (formerly the ImprovOlympic) and in various improv groups including Jazz Freddy, Gambrinus King of Beer, and The Second City.

Member of the original cast of Jazz Freddy, a long-form improvisation show in Chicago.

1995 alumnus of Second City Chicago e.t.c., an improvisational comedy troupe. Brian worked with Second City for four years in their resident company and spent two years on the road with the Second City road company. [3]

Performed at Upright Citizen Brigade's ASSSSCAT show

Lended his voice for the video games Deer Avenger (1998) and Deer Avenger 2: Deer in the City (1999) (written by Brian McCann) along with fellow comedians such as Brian McCann, Tina Fey, Jon Glaser, and Amy Poehler

  • Played “Special Agent in Charge” in the movie Spaceman (1997)
  • Played “Young Sexband” in the movie A Slipping-Down Life (1999)
